The University of Miami has a number of well-established biospecimen collections that contain a wide array of samples from diverse patient populations in South Florida. These collections, housing more than 400,000 samples, represent the rapidly growing Hispanic/Latino portion of the U.S. demography.

The goal of BioResource Program of the Miami CTSI is to build the infrastructure for a centralized system that will facilitate utilization and quality improvement of the University’s various biorepositories.


Consultations are available in the following:

  • Best practices for specimen procurement, processing, quality control, storage, retrieval, and distribution.
  • Standard operating procedures for patient consent, protection, and privacy.
